Tillotama Shome Instagram – Batch of 1967
My father Anupam Shome wanted me to see his school , St. Lawrence High school. He was most afraid we would not be allowed inside. But the most wonderful gate keeper said we could go in for a few minutes, since school was closed. His words made my father so happy.
Despite being in terrible pain , I saw Baba transported into a different time , his walk more energetic…He showed off about his school having the biggest playground in Kolkata ( it was very big), stood outside section A, shared memories of coming to the sick room after being bust post a hockey game, showed me where the Father’s stayed.
Baba was a shot put and javelin champion.

Would like to conclude this post with the words written on a board as you enter the school.
“Destroying any nation does not require the use of atomic bombs or the use of long range missiles. It only requires lowering the quality of education and allowing cheating in the examination by the students”
Patients die at the hands of such doctors.
Buildings collapse at the hands of such engineers.
Money is lost at the hands of such economists and accountants.
Humanity dies at the hands of religious scholars
Justice is lost at the hands of such judges.
The collapse of education is the collapse of the nation ”
