She trained in fashion in France. Her Nani is Prabhjot kaur , a renowned Punjabi poet , one of the literary greats of our country. Her first book was published in 1940 , at the age of 16. And her Nana , Narender pal singh was also a leading Punjabi novelist . He also published a bi monthly magazine called byword on international relations. Her mother is a wonderful artist , speaks fluent French and has navigated many adventures as she was a formidable partner to, Urvashi’s Father, who is a Former chief of the army staff of India.
So you can well imagine my curiosity about every member of this gharana and their incredible stories!!! Meeting them numerous times made me understand Urvashi and over time we became friends. I wore her clothes often. Instagram followers, my viability in the industry, lack of work, PR…none of it mattered to her.
So when she called, I showed UP.
We were later asked about inclusivity, sustainability etc etc…
These words require a certain way of thinking, that can’t be conveniently put up right before a fashion show. They need to be cultivated over time, in how you treat people and things.
Urvashi is an energetic, tidal wave of talent and warmth that values people above all. The people who came together are people who like HER. Her clothes are non confirming and construct defying. We were dressed in what felt comfortable to each of us.
During rehearsals Urvashi said:” You just be you. You don’t feel like walking- sit, you want to take off your shoes, do it. ”
I took off the heels and wore my trusted boots .

Peri menopause/Menopause. Why is something so ubiquitous as menopause, so stigmatized?
Aah is it because it’s associated with ageing?
Well too bad. Let’s talk about it!!
Hot flashes, depression, palpitations, flash bleeding, nightmares, insomnia. Add to this mix, daily triggering news of women being violated.
Men and women( who are lucky enough to breeze through their menopause) should know it, so jokes about hysterical women can be put to rest.
Partners should know so they don’t take it personally and know how to support and be supported.
Co workers/ Bosses understand that if you want to hire a woman with experience, you will have to take the time to understand these changes, make room for it in your scheduling and manage your expectations. Too much for too little? Where is the Josh guys?
Doctors/Gynacs, please understand that women’s reproductive function is not their ONLY essential function. There is a rich life beyond our viability as mothers and we would like to be happy even when we can’t be mothers.
I have hope, hope that enough men and women can normalise difficult conversations around women’s safety and women’s health and make India truly safe for women.
I also hope that today i will be wiser, kinder and less angry:-)

I have hope, hope that enough men and women can normalise difficult conversations around women’s safety and women’s health and make India truly safe for women.
I also hope that today i will be wiser, kinder and less angry:-)
