Kat Von D Instagram - Huge THANK YOU to everyone who came by and visited our black tulip field! I honestly wasn’t expecting that high volume of visitors and it filled my heart seeing people from all over, and all walks of life visit our beloved small town, Vevay! 🥹 So many amazingly talented photographers came and shot professional nature photography, graduation photos, maternity, band photos, children/family/pet portraits and editorial fashion! So inspiring! NEXT YEAR WE ARE GOING EVEN BIGGER! After much thought, we have decided we will permanently be moving to Indiana at the end of this year. We plan on selling our beautiful home here, and I will most likely open a private studio in Indiana once we are done with the house remodel there. This means that, sadly, I will be closing my beloved tattoo shop @highvoltagetat here in West Hollywood on Dec 1. I didn’t think it would make sense to keep it open if I wasn’t present, and aside from coming back to work on music with my band, we don’t plan on returning to LA very often. Kat Von D Instagram - Day 5 of Leafar starting his reading curriculum. We have been on Winter break from his regular @classical_conversations homeschool curriculum, so figured it was great timing. Because I know people will ask, we are using the Teach Your Child How to Read in 100 lessons workbook. Leafar really loves it, and by the time he finishes the 100 days he should be reading at a 2nd grade level!🖤
Kat Von D Instagram - 17 sessions, and almost 40 accumulative hours later, we are about 80% done with blacking out my body. I’ve been consistently flying out to Philly to get tattooed by the amazing @hoode215 at his lovely tattoo shop @blackvulturegallery. Maybe before commenting any negativity, just remind yourself: What you consider ugly, might be beautiful to someone else. •IF YOU DONT LIKE YOUR TATTOOS, WHY DON’T YOU GET THEM LASERED OFF? I actually did start lasering tattoos, and although I think laser tattoo removal is effective, I personally wasn’t a good candidate considering how much coverage I wanted to remove. Laser is a slow (and extremely painful) process, that depending on your tattoo, can take more than 10 sessions, including long healing periods in between. •ARE YOU GOING TO TATTOO WHITE OVER IT? Nope. I love the simplicity of the black — but definitely have seen some beautiful ones where people tattoo white over their black out. •THAT CAN’T BE GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH? I’ve been getting tattooed for almost 3 decades, and have never felt a negative effect. Personally, I believe there’s more toxicity in most of the foods we eat, makeup we wear, and chemicals in cleaning supplies. Are you eating 100% organic, eliminating all seed oils from your diet, cutting out all processed foods, sugars and food dyes? Wearing perfumes or makeup without hormone disrupters, lighting candles without fragrance, cleaning without harsh chemicals? We can always try our best to pick our poisons. Personally I try my best to do all those things above, but I do love me some lipstick, candy and a tattoo every now and then! And I’m ok with that. 😹 •WHY ARE YOU COVERING UP ALL YOUR TATTOOS? I had many tattoos that represented a part of my life that no longer aligns with who I am today. Some people are fine with keeping these types of landmarks in time on them — I personally grew tired of waking up to them, and seeing those constant reminders every time I looked in a mirror. Also, I really love the esthetic. I know it’s not for everyone but it is very satisfying to me to see a clean slate when I look down onto my arms. Lotsa Love! X

Kat Von D Instagram - The black tulip field is officially in full bloom! 🖤🌷🖤 Been getting lotsa questions, so here are some answers for you: 🖤 Yes! You are totally welcome to come and see them, take photos and enjoy them whenever you’d like! *Please just don’t pick them, a few folks have already started to, and we just wanna let everyone get a chance to enjoy them. 🖤 We kindly ask that you don’t enter the gates to the house though. There’s a ton of construction going on and it’s not open to the public. Thanks for understanding. 🖤 Prior to us getting the inflatable scarecrows, the deer got to a section of tulips, so that’ll explain some of the patches. But next year we plan on expanding and making it even bigger! 🖤 If you do come and take photos, please tag @hellovevay so I can repost you! It looks like it might rain the next few days, but by Saturday it should start getting nice and sunny! Tulips typically bloom 1-2 weeks, so there’s a nice window to come and see these black beauties and explore our lovely small town if you’d like. Thank you all for coming along on this tulip journey with us, and to all the folks in Vevay who came and helped plant these with me! ALSO, you guys left a ton of questions/comments on my last penny floor post (mostly sweet, but some extremely rude💁🏻‍♀️) but figured I’d answer some of those here: •we definitely plan on grouting and then covering with a couple of layers of clear epoxy - so the pennies won’t oxidize, it will be easy to clean, and won’t exude a copper scent. •the template I am using was not designed for this but works well for it. I’ll try and find where I got it and link it for you guys soon. •the black pennies: I didn’t paint them, but I did treat them using Liver of Sulfur which smells awful. I do plan on making a full length how-to video to show you guys step by step. •yes, all the pennies are heads up and facing the same direction because I’m a psycho. •I don’t know how many pennies total will be used for this project, but this will definitely be the cheapest flooring in our entire house. •If gluing pennies to my bathroom floor offends you in any way, I highly suggest you unfollow me. And no, it’s not illegal. I’ll post a final reveal once I’m done! Love you! 🖤 #casavond

After much thought, we have decided we will permanently be moving to Indiana at the end of this year. Nope. I love the simplicity of the black — but definitely have seen some beautiful ones where people tattoo white over their black out. •THAT CAN’T BE GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH? I’ve been getting tattooed for almost 3 decades, and have never felt a negative effect. Personally, I believe there’s more toxicity in most of the foods we eat, makeup we wear, and chemicals in cleaning supplies. Are you eating 100% organic, eliminating all seed oils from your diet, cutting out all processed foods, sugars and food dyes? Wearing perfumes or makeup without hormone disrupters, lighting candles without fragrance, cleaning without harsh chemicals? We can always try our best to pick our poisons. Personally I try my best to do all those things above, but I do love me some lipstick, candy and a tattoo every now and then! And I’m ok with that. 😹 •WHY ARE YOU COVERING UP ALL YOUR TATTOOS? I had many tattoos that represented a part of my life that no longer aligns with who I am today. Some people are fine with keeping these types of landmarks in time on them — I personally grew tired of waking up to them, and seeing those constant reminders every time I looked in a mirror. Also, I really love the esthetic. I know it’s not for everyone but it is very satisfying to me to see a clean slate when I look down onto my arms. Lotsa Love! X

ALSO, you guys left a ton of questions/comments on my last penny floor post (mostly sweet, but some extremely rude💁🏻‍♀️) but figured I’d answer some of those here: •we definitely plan on grouting and then covering with a couple of layers of clear epoxy - so the pennies won’t oxidize, it will be easy to clean, and won’t exude a copper scent. •the template I am using was not designed for this but works well for it. I’ll try and find where I got it and link it for you guys soon. •the black pennies: I didn’t paint them, but I did treat them using Liver of Sulfur which smells awful. I do plan on making a full length how-to video to show you guys step by step. •yes, all the pennies are heads up and facing the same direction because I’m a psycho. •I don’t know how many pennies total will be used for this project, but this will definitely be the cheapest flooring in our entire house. •If gluing pennies to my bathroom floor offends you in any way, I highly suggest you unfollow me. So grateful to be able to spend some much needed family time away from all the chaos and can’t thank you enough @thefivesoceanfront @romarleybeachhouse for making this little family vacation so special!
