BLACK TULIP FIELD UPDATE!🖤🌷🖤 I say probably a few more weeks before all the lovely black tulips bloom! I know so many of you have been asking for an update – and I promise to keep you posted over on the @hellovevay account! 🖤 A few things to keep in mind for this years bloom: • Tulips generally only bloom for about 2 weeks – so I’ll give you guys a heads up when it gets closer to the 2 week period so you don’t miss out! 🖤 • All are welcome to come see the tulip field right outside our property, but please be respectful of our privacy and do not attempt to enter our actual property. Respectfully, I get actually pretty alarmed when people I don’t know randomly show up to my doorstep, and thank you ahead of time for not doing that. 🙏🏻 • huge shout out to @vanzyverdeninc for supplying us with these beautiful Queen of the Night, black tulip bulbs for this years blooms! • and lastly, thank you to everyone who comes and supports our tiny little town, Vevay! I truly love this place and so excited to share it with you! 🖤
Obviously, this explanation is for those of you who’ve ever wondered why we wear In-Ear monitors on stage. The In-Ears @sammidoll and I wear have been custom made to fit into our ears – this is so all outside sounds get completely canceled and we have a better focus on the parts we play and sing. For me, it helps me to stay in time and have better pitch. I also have different cues, key reminders, and countdowns programmed. This helps me always start each song in the right key, and gets me to enter stage at the right moment, and makes sure I don’t forget what song I’m singing next, since often times we change our set list. I also have a specific mix that we prep during our rehearsals that plays in my ears that are completely different than @sammidoll’s. As you can tell in this video it’s kinda quiet, and stripped down. This mix I have found makes it the easiest for me to stay in tune and on time. I also have @sammidoll ‘s vocals turned down, because my silly brain tends to latch on to her harmonies if I hear them. 😹 I thought it would be cool to share this with you, because it’s such a huge difference to what goes on in our ears compared to yours! During our day off in Detroit, @sammidoll and I had the pleasure of visiting the artist @andersruhwald installation over at @unit1_3583dubois. I’ve been wanting to come and see this in person ever since my dear friend @hwahwalala told me about it years ago! This historic 6 room apartment has been turned into an immersive art installation compiled of charred black wood walls, metal sculptures, and an all black bathroom covered in repurposed black material all reclaimed from the city of Detroit.
