The wonderfully kind and comedic force that is @glampornel wrote some lovely words about Run the Burbs, how we made it, and what it represented. I’m still dealing with the loss of the show, but these kind words, and all of the loving and positive messages I’ve gotten over these last couple of weeks have made me so proud of this show and what we did. Thank you Ann for writing this. ❤️ #runtheburbs Link in my stories.

“Yes and” is one of those core improv lessons that I try to use in my daily life. Saying “yes and” and supporting your partners ideas. I’ve been making a more conscious effort to say that as a parent. Recently, my younger son asked to do some graffiti. My gut as a parent was to say “no, we can’t do that”, but I stopped myself and asked “why can’t we do that?” So we hit up a great graffiti paint shop, finally used a bunch of old wood I had in the garage and spent the afternoon doing some graffiti. It ended up with us chilling in the backyard for hours, painting, looking up cool designs to try, just talking, and encouraging one another. I loved this experience and it was reminder to say “yes and” more! ❤️

Tết celebration home videos ❤️🧧 🇨🇦: @cbcgem (S3, E9) 🇺🇸: @hulu This is the tag to season 3’s Tết (Lunar New Year) episode on #runtheburbs! We do one each season and this one was really special. It was my first solo script written, and one that I felt really tried to tap into the dynamics of Vietnamese families. This tag was shot on old Mini DV cameras to mimic retro home video footage. I wanted to capture the heart and chaos of Tết. Piles of shoes at the door and people just sprawled on couches eating food and celebrating! Directed by @joycewongjoyce, Joyce and our editor @baunmah pitched the song “Sài Gòn” by Y Van. The issue was getting this song and a specific recording cleared. Thankfully we connected to Trúc Mai‘s family who allowed us to use her recording of it. Thank you to Phuong Tran! And thank you to Michael, Akash, and Danica for negotiating the rights. The song is beautiful and chorus translate to “Saigon is so beautiful, oh Saigon!”. My TV sister, @trukimmy, had expressed a desire to explore the role of modern women in Vietnamese North American culture, and the idea for this episode was born. Kimmy is incredible in this episode! While breaking this episode, it also lined up with a pitch we had for Sam, and @julienolke is hilarious as always. I can’t thank people enough for making this episode come to life. Our CSA nominated DP @atipper (and her camera team), the cast @rakheecola @zoriahwong @roman_pesino @julienolke @trukimmy @chrislockefun @standupali @sharjilr Christine Nguyen, Pierre Duong, Tan Huynh, @roselle_to’s mom, and @devanshunarang! Our crew, the props and food team (Blair Asunta!) for their work on this one. Our writers and my EPs @jennicaharper @neluhanda @scott.townend who supported my vision for this one. Honestly, our entire Phamily! ❤️ 🧧
