I’m in tears writing this , I don’t know what to say . We don’t have many Heroes to look up to as black men & he was that for me , for us as a people & this loss today is like loosing my father . Chadwick is the reason why I played Little Richard period. I’ll never forget the first day I walked into the makeup trailer and he said to me when he saw my performance on tape “ you got it “ and he fought for me to have this role over other stars that were bigger than me at the time & told the director “this kids got it” This opportunity changed my life & more importantly Chadwicks commitment to excellence changed my vision of seeing myself as a part of the inferior race to forever seeing myself as a king , as a part of the superior race as a part of the true Kings . Chadwick helped me in so many facets of my life and was always one of my biggest champions and inspirations . Today I’m hurt , today I’m lost . If you see a 42 in your life just know that’s the big homie Chad reminding you to be great in every moment because not a damn thing is promised . Especially as a black man living in America . Thank you king @chadwickboseman for being our hero ✊🏽 also @theacademy give my king his Honorary #Oscar for his flawless , timeless iconic portrayal of the legend James Brown , you owe him that and us as a people ✊🏽.

Words can’t describe the catalyst @chadwickboseman was for my career & the confidence he ignited in me as young black king in a world where black men & black women have been viewed as slaves. We have always been the true Kings and Queens and Chadwick instilled that pride in every person & every person of color on and off set that anything is possible with determination will & relentless hard work .He brought light to the shadows.There was a long list of A-list actors at the time who were lobbying to play the legend Little Richard and Chadwick believed in me a young and fearless king .
