Brandon Mychal Smith Instagram – I’m in tears writing this , I don’t know what to say . We don’t have many Heroes to look up to as black men & he was that for me , for us as a people & this loss today is like loosing my father . Chadwick is the reason why I played Little Richard period. I’ll never forget the first day I walked into the makeup trailer and he said to me when he saw my performance on tape “ you got it “ and he fought for me to have this role over other stars that were bigger than me at the time & told the director “this kids got it” This opportunity changed my life & more importantly Chadwicks commitment to excellence changed my vision of seeing myself as a part of the inferior race to forever seeing myself as a king , as a part of the superior race as a part of the true Kings .
Chadwick helped me in so many facets of my life and was always one of my biggest champions and inspirations . Today I’m hurt , today I’m lost . If you see a 42 in your life just know that’s the big homie Chad reminding you to be great in every moment because not a damn thing is promised . Especially as a black man living in America .
