Costa Georgiadis Instagram – There something I find incredibly rewarding about pruning fruit trees and at this time of the year its perfect to do a late summer -ish prune in mid autumn. I was talking about this to Alice Zaslavsky on what is our regular sat morning yarn on @abcmelbourne. ThIs lemon tree is down in Melbourne and after what has been a fairly wet summer there is a lot of new growth and even fruit but it was a good time to take off as you can see a lot of the branches that had grown over the roof height onto the roof and were brushing up against the house. I didn’t want to go too hard because there’s still a lot of fruit on the tree and it is not a structural prrune that would take off a lot of the fruit bearing branches for next year. Take this task as a bit of a trim on what is a tree that I won’t give a big prune to for a couple of years. I love lemons and I love pruning them to see the way they respond. There’s a whole basket full of lemons off the prunings along with about another 60 or 70 on the tree so I’m going to juice these and freeze them into cubes.
