This massacre, where an estimated 1500 people were brutally killed by the Israeli occupation forces, as part of the destruction of the entire hospital and surrounding medical buildings, is one of the largest in Palestinian history and will occupy a space in the Palestinian collective conscience like the Zionist massacres in Deir Yassin and Tantura. Doctors who refused to leave their patients were executed. A number of patients were executed while in their hospital beds. Women and children were found zip tied and executed. Heads and limbs were severed. The IOF separated people into different categories, assigning them different colored bracelets before executing them. We consider how this massacre was reported on in the mainstream media where it was largely ignored in favor of coverage on Israeli’s assassination of the seven WCK aid workers. It is precisely this dehumanization of Palestinian life that has allowed this genocide to continue for six months daily without interruption.
