I felt very privileged to be part of the @masterchefau team when they accepted their @aacta award last night for Best Reality Program. They gave me their moment in the limelight so that I could honour Jock, thank you. @andyallencooks, thank you for looking after me the whole night, crying with me. And to @charmainedepasquale_stylist and @toni_maticevski, thank you for taking all the worry of what to wear away. Toni – your dresses are beyond beautiful and you have been so generous and kind to me.

One year. We watched the sunrise today in true Scottish style – wind, pouring rain, and Jock’s beloved bagpipes as our soundtrack. A day for us to try to accept that he’s not coming home, that this is forever, that we were lucky he was ours. Forever their Papa and Dad. It’s different this year. No less love or excitement, just my stubbornness to see the kid’s faces light up in spite of it all. As much as I willed yesterday to be over, I can’t skip this chapter. The long list of firsts, I hear they get easier, I believe that to be true. Watching our gorgeous children navigating their first Xmas, I can see now that tragedy will make them. It will make them fierce and fearless, they’ll have a strength no-one can quite put their finger on. And they will undoubtedly have a life bigger than the one Jock and I dreamt for them because of this. They’ll be stronger in the broken bits. As a family, we have been privileged to receive kindness beyond measure this past week, and across the whole year actually, during what has been a tough year for so many. Thank you. Loz
Four years ago. Restaurant Orana’s last service. Such a bittersweet night. With past and current staff all working, more past staff and close friends joining for knock off drinks, all there the following days to help pack up Jock’s greatest work. I ate at the last service with @andyallencooks. Who jumped on the plane that afternoon, after a day of filming, to support Jock. Not only through his last service, but also because he was leaving two of his children and a pregnant wife in another state during covid while he went back to filming. When Orana closed, Jock lost a sense of direction and purpose, and started a journey of trying to find who he actually was when he was no longer a chef. Orana was so much more than a restaurant, and if you ever walked through those doors you know what I mean. Loz

Three years ago today.
Each year our fam does Fake Christmas at the end of November, a tradition we started the first year Jock and I met. The cover photo is from last year. We put up the tree. We have a full British Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. We issue the matching family PJs for the year. This year we continued our tradition. I can’t work out how the f@*king tree lights work. I had to cook. We wore the same PJs as last year. Sometimes good is enough. Loz
You find people in your life that you were just meant to stumble upon. Our two Scotsmen found each other, they were like brothers. And from that, the kids and I found an extended family. Jimmy is so impossibly strong – I would say unbreakable – and that’s one of the main reasons he’s pushed through the last few weeks like the extraordinary man that he is. I can’t even start to list off everything @jimmybarnesofficial , @jane13barnes , their kids, their family, and their friends have all done for the kids and I this year. This is a group of humans where you see a drop, they see an ocean. It’s the real sense of a clan. In true Jimmy/Jock style – 2023, that’s enough now, you can f*%k right off. Loz

Jock @Zonfrillo was the winner of the third edition of the Basque Culinary World Prize in 2018. The Scottish chef undertook the task of preserving the memory of native peoples of Australia through their food. In 2016 he launched the Orana Foundation and his restaurant was recognized as Australia’s Restaurant of the Year 2017. Sadly Jock Zonfrillo passed away in April 2023. He left a priceless legacy.
