At the same time that our federal government has made efforts to recognize Juneteenth as a national holiday, there is an active campaign to ban the teaching of critical race theory in classrooms. Author and activist, Bob Zellner, sat down with us to examine the importance of keeping critical race theory in classrooms across America. Zellner asserts that the implications of outlawing discussion around systemic racism and oppression in our educational system will have innumerable consequences. As racism has close ties to sexism and homophobia, and has effects on economics, law enforcement, and scientific research, we cannot let misconceptions about CRT lead the future of America down the wrong path.
