Matthew Underwood Instagram – Spent the week in DC and finally got to check out the monuments at Midnight on my last night in town. I gotta admit though, it was incredibly surreal to have the Lincoln Memorial all to myself for a while.
I don’t think awe-inspiring is even capable of describing the experience of soaking in the writing on the walls from the minds that shaped this oft challenged social experiment I call my home. I found myself with jaw agape on many occasions admiring the truly massive works of art and engineering.
Standing there all alone in that silent chamber, I was reminded how difficult this experiment has been, and how so many of our struggles have stemmed from and provided for the expansion of the definition of Equality for All. We have much growth in our future, and many struggles just like these geezers went through to get us here. But with each step we inch closer to those truths we’ve held self-evident since this party got started over 200 years ago. | Posted on 18/May/2024 10:58:49
