Thank you to our Diné family for always welcoming us. Without you there is no little wild one. He is in this world because of the love you’ve showed us.
Deepest gratitude for all the organizers of the 2nd annual youth trip to Bears Ears. This year’s focus was on the preparation of traditional foods and the importance of food sovereignty. Our youth participated in the butchering, processing and cooking of a sheep and then learned how to prepare and tan its hide. It was an emotional and transformative day.
This weekend takes months of preparation, planning and dedication.
Working with youth in care demands thoughtfulness, compassion, creativity and communication and I’m beyond proud of all the folks involved.
Personally I remain steadfast in my dedication to the empowerment of Indigenous communities in whatever small ways I can make an impact. I’m trying my best to listen and learn and appropriately use my skills to help create opportunities rich in discovery and connection.
