holy moly you can now watch my entire @tedxboston planetary stewardship talk on the “transformative power of nature connection” at the link in my bio. this talk wouldn’t have been possible without my @kinshipclimbingcollective @riseoutsidecollective and @wildearthny communities. thank you for encouraging me to share my experiences and for your endless inspiration 🦋 thank you @noralatorreofficial for always believing in your baby girl. love you! 📸 @katherinetaylorphoto
Had such a blast at @justlikeheavenfest 🫧 It was an honor to share the stage with so many excellent bands and so many badass women! Seriously thank you @goldenvoice for stacking the fest with babes like @cssmusic @teganandsara @phantogram @gossipmusicofficial and @metric just to name a few. Despite it being almost 2 years since our last show, I was proud of our set. It was an honor to be joined by @billyrymer on drums and as always @katersteinberg brought her all. Huge shout out to @mrsoundlady and @_feeb_ for filling in and being absolute gems. Immense love for @the.waffle and so much respect for @rebelofnyc. You had to navigate a lot and you did it with incredible calm and professionalism 🖤 Looking back and seeing Wilder bouncing around with his mama bear was an absolute dream come true. Thank you mom and @tbw22 for being the best baby support team I could ask for. Thank you @badnailzriri for being a style queen and to our team @singerdoug @will_hubbard and @jennyfromlebloc for being there to support. And lastly huge shout out to Derek @sleighbells for continuing to do this with me after almost 15 years!!!! Here’s to more shows and new music. Let’s goooooooo ❤️🔥 Photo 1: @sarahelizabethphotographyatx Photo 2: @quasarmedia Photo 3: @danielleagnello1900 Photo 4: @ashleyosborn Photo 5: @sarahelizabethphotographyatx

what does protest look like for me now as a sleep deprived and over scheduled mother of a 7 month old? for now it’s sitting in my little cousin’s bedroom while my baby naps taking selfies in this t-shirt designed by @sabri. shirt sales support mutual aid for Gaza it’s no radical act but for now it’s what i can do. i struggle everyday thinking about how to express my outrage over what continues to happen in our world. i truly believe that even the smallest acts matter. keep feeling, keep having conversations with loved ones. keep mothering and keep loving with all your might. keep protesting even if your capacity is limited. it all matters.

I’d been avoiding her bed since she passed. Then last night I lowered myself to my hands and knees and allowed myself to melt into her cherished little space. The smell of her was immediately overwhelming. I sobbed and rested my cheek against the soft fuzz that she had nuzzled her face against countless times. I was too emotional to sleep so I decided to compile this. I hope it makes you smile. Thank you all so much for your messages. I’m in awe of the impact this small being had on so many of you. Watching her live her best life just brings me so much happiness. What a pup! Rizzy forever ❤️
I am not my body. I am somebody. This shirt hits especially hard today and not just because I love sexy queer unicorn bass players 🦄 @dreamwife The words below are imperfect and distracted. After all, I am drafting them while my five month old son suckles from my breast, cooing and smiling. It’s pretty hard to focus… As he nourishes himself from my body, the same body that grew him and birthed him (!!!) I daydream about him growing up in a world where the bodies of women and other marginalized beings are respected and celebrated. A world where all people have agency and choice over how they want to show up and experience life. On this International Women’s Day I grieve for the mothers in Gaza. I grieve for the trans community. I grieve for the victims of sexual violence. I grieve for the humans unable to access safe abortions. I grieve for anybody who doesn’t feel safe and protected. Over the years the way I think about this day has evolved. Now being a mother, and raising a privileged white male, I feel an even greater responsibility to empower those who have historically been disempowered. Despite all of the pain, I want to celebrate those incredible humans out there who are fighting to exercise choice over their bodies. I want to celebrate the scars of childbirth and the scars of top surgery. I want to celebrate the titties, however saggy and sucked on they might be. I want to celebrate the stretch marks, the folds, the pouches and the pussies. Get out there and take up all the space you can. Get out there and disrupt. Cause lots of trouble. Get out there and be your most colorful, loudest, queerest, fiercest and sexiest unicorn. Thanks for indulging me in this last minute pants-less nap-time photoshoot @chris_vultaggio 🥰

mom life continues to push me to be more innovative so i’m finding new ways to prepare for @justlikeheavenfest. i quite enjoy this rehearsal process. it’s our first show in what feels like forever and i’m determined to make it a good one. wilder seems surprisingly chill with me wearing him while i warm up and sing through the set. maybe it’s all the @sleighbells recording we did while i was pregnant. hope to see you there!! can’t freaking wait!!
hot trail tips from a soon to be six month old 👀 #adventurebaby
Back from Utah. Back from a whirlwind of love, connection, community, sacrifice, surrender, beauty, pain, chaos and wisdom. Thank you to our Diné family for always welcoming us. Without you there is no little wild one. He is in this world because of the love you’ve showed us. Deepest gratitude for all the organizers of the 2nd annual youth trip to Bears Ears. This year’s focus was on the preparation of traditional foods and the importance of food sovereignty. Our youth participated in the butchering, processing and cooking of a sheep and then learned how to prepare and tan its hide. It was an emotional and transformative day. This weekend takes months of preparation, planning and dedication. Working with youth in care demands thoughtfulness, compassion, creativity and communication and I’m beyond proud of all the folks involved. Personally I remain steadfast in my dedication to the empowerment of Indigenous communities in whatever small ways I can make an impact. I’m trying my best to listen and learn and appropriately use my skills to help create opportunities rich in discovery and connection. Below is an incomplete list of folks involved. Not pictured are the youth and the many elders and community members that offered their invaluable time and gentle guidance. Immeasurable thanks to the Benally family for hosting us on your land. @riseoutsidecollective @goodtripadventures @utahfostercare @benallystephanie @heyitsmayjay @opalis121 @v.i.c_alvarez @randybenally1 @willsonatene Partners: Tara Benally Meredith Benally C 4Ever Green Good Trip Adventures Rise Outside Stephanie Benally and Utah Foster Care Willson Atene Mariah Holiday Jim Young Kate Margargal Honors College Bears Ears Intertribal Coalition Herbert Stash Photos and storytelling by @trevorlately and @chris_vultaggio Liv we couldn’t have done this without you.
