My dearest love, you have seen me through each hill and valley of childhood and young womanhood. Whenever I stayed up late to write a poem, you stayed by my side until I wrote the last line. You asked to love me, and for nothing more. You changed and cherished me in every way possible, and I miss you deeper than my bones. But now you can rest my sweet, just as is your right after a life of giving. You are free forever, the first and last of your kind. It was an honor to be yours, and for you to be ours.
