Amanda Palmer Instagram – This is the first time in my life I’ve sat down to have a birthday party while somewhere across the earth, I missed a funeral for a dear friend. At 6pm we laid the table and Ash picked flowers and helped decorated the cake, while somewhere on Palm Beach on Waiheke in Tomorrowland, @danikacharity read the poem I wrote today for Bianca…while everyone over paid their respects to her body. Her life. This is the first time I’ve sat down on a birthday to pen a poem for a death day. There’s a first for everything. This night. These people. Flowers came from afar. I was surrounded by so much love, and the love feels that much more infinite and rich in contrast with the gaping landscapes that are blurry and ragged around the edges. The missing. In death we live. In loss we find our alive. In dark we light. I feel more will to mother knowing that Bianca, right now, cannot. I have never been more grateful for my friends, my loved ones, my lover, my bath soaps, my bedside pens and pencils, my ability to write a poem, my son and his laughter, the blood coursing through my warm hands. My friends. My friends. My friends. Hold your loved ones close tonight. My god, it’s all so fucking brief. To all few hundred of you who joined the Patreon togay, welcome to the family. Amanda Palmer Instagram – BOOK EVENTS!! And…sexy new author photo time! I never wear my hair down but I’m getting brave so you better believe I’m serious about getting back into being an author this year. ✍️ Fate dealt me a great hand when I was working away in the @porter_square_books café a few months ago and @markostow asked if he could take my portrait. And boom, beautiful new author photo for me! And at the same time, I’ve been steeped in so many incredible new books and made friends with so many POWERHOUSE GODDAMN WRITERS from the NY area…and hell, I have my own venue….so I decided to connect all the dots and I’m hosting three salon-style “in conversation” events this month at @gravesidevariety, my little crowdfunded hidey-hole in Woodstock, Ny. Co-presented by our local indie @goldennotebookbookstore , only 50 tickets for every conversation (all tickets are $25 and help keep the venue afloat) and will include a Q&A with me and each author. We are also curating a special book sale table for each event! There’ll be coffee and tea and tears and truth and I hope you all make the trip. This is the way I really wanna say goodbye to this iteration of this venue: with stories that don’t usually get told. With stories that matter. Come share in the moment.
