Cinnamon Roll Cake Ingredients: 1 box cake mix (yellow, white, or spiced) 1/4 cup AP flour 3 eggs 1 cup sour cream or yogurt 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/4 cup water Pan spray 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 tablespoon cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice 1 cup powdered sugar 2 tablespoons milk Method: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray two loaf pans and set aside. In a large bowl add the cake mix, flour, eggs, sour cream, oil and water and mix until combined. Divide evenly between the loaf pans. In a different bowl combine the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle on the top of the unbaked batter and use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the mixture into the cake. Bake until the center is set and the top is golden and crispy, about 40-45 minutes. Meanwhile make the icing by combining the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Remove from the oven and cool for 20 minutes. Remove the cake from the pan and drizzle with 1/2 the icing for each loaf. If you want it to be real pretty drizzle on half while it’s warm, let it cool and then drizzle on the rest... not necessary but it does make it cuter!

Damaris Phillips Instagram – Bakelite is a hard plastic that was very popular in the 1930’s-50’s. This handle looks like Bakelite but doesn’t pass the Bakelite smell test (rub it vigorously with your thumb to create friction, then smell the handle and your thumb will smell like rubber if it’s true Bakelite) Once cheaper hard plastics were invented Bakelite fell out of popularity, however the sleek and smooth look remained into the 1970’s where you often see the 70’s color palette or faux wood in kitchen utensils.

Deviled Egg Salad
Ingredients:
4 Whole Eggs large
2 tablespoons Dukes Mayonnaise
2 teaspoons Dijon Mustard
1/4 cup chopped Dill Pickles, (spicy or regular)
5-6 chives, sliced fine
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
salt to taste
garnish with smoked paprika, more chives and pepper (I also use pink peppercorns and flaky salt sometimes on top)

Method:
Using a potato masher with square holes or a cooking rack, chop the eggs.

Add the mayonnaise, mustard, pickles, chives and peppers and combine using a fork to stir. Do mash just fold until it comes together.

Taste and season with salt as needed.

Serve in lettuce cups, toasted bread or crackers and garnish with paprika, chives and pepper.
