38 years ago I met a woman who’s essence would forever change and bless my life! I attended a private party shortly after I arrived in LA to shoot the #ADifferentWorld pilot in ‘86. I was then introduced to the “Original Jaleesa” and she shared the story of how my character was named after her! @JaleesaHazzard and her husband Walt (Sinbad’s character was named after), have always been two of the most gracious, talented, compassionate and genuine people I had ever met. Walt sadly passed away years ago, but my namesake & I have remained friends since that very first day. It was wonderful sharing a meal, a beverage and a “just cause” hang with her today by the ocean. Fact: her name was actually created just for her! She’s truly “The Original” however, the international success of ADW has inspired thousands of people to name their daughter “Jaleesa”, because of my character! I’m honored and humbled to play even a small part in keeping this Phenomenal Woman’s legacy alive!

What a thrill to celebrate my brother @Sinbadbad during the taping of his recent tribute show at the #netflixisajoke fest!
This was his first truly “public” appearance since his stroke. His mind and humor is still razor sharp and he got on a roll and started to do a full set of jokes! The audience gave him a well deserved standing ovation and was cracking up at everything he said. I swear he would have done a full hour if we had the time!

What a thrill to support Dr. Lucille O’Neal and the O’neal Family at their “A Crown Affair” event for the Odessa Chambliss Quality of Life Fund. This fund was created in honor of their mother, Odessa Chambliss, in efforts to provide scholarships to underserved college students seeking a career in nursing. The event also happened to be during Mother’s Day weekend! The room of more than 400 guests was electric – all enjoyed a day of wonderful fellowship, energetic praise & worship, and looked fabulous in their favorite hats! Guests also enjoyed an amazing performance by @TheRealDottiePeoples. I was blessed to have a table filled with my family and dearest friends as we celebrated love and each other as “Mothers”!
