The Carousel Horse ✨🎠✨
When @catherinedlish and I first debuted this act in 2001, as the new wave of burlesque was underway, it blew expectations among audiences and fellow entertainers. The top hat. The costume. The #carousel horse complete with shiny brass pole. Everything blindingly and colorfully twinkled with @swarovski ✨
Catherine’s costume was the most over the top she had done at the time. In my 2002 #Playboy cover story, I posed in my full “Carousel” act regalia, from plume to #pointe shoes, perched atop the twee horse. Alas, that #bedazzled beast went missing a few years later and we had to remake it.
For Dita Las Vegas, three of the four jeweled horses now in my “stable” appear, side straddled by Von Teese Dancers in Jubilee archival costumes.
