One of the reasons I loathe being in negative, transphobic spaces where people are close minded is because I feel that my voice is being wasted on bricks, molded, unable to change shape blocking the view and interrupting progress, however when you belong to the space you must turn fear in to caution and proceed. The first time I returned to my island, I was filled with anxiety, but I pushed through with the support of my Papi, my sister and her husband. The second time I returned to my Island there was anxiety once again, however I focused on business, and in the blink of an eye, I was on my way back to New York. Both times I was on high alert within.
