Jane Goodall Instagram – ๐Ÿ” Let’s take a deep dive into the Jane Goodall Institute’s wild animal behavior research!

Jane’s observations of chimpanzees in what is now Gombe, Tanzania, shaped the way we view the animal world, and continuing to learn about chimpanzees โ€” and the many other species who share their ecosystems โ€” is essential to protecting them! Here are some ongoing studies:

๐Ÿต The longest-running wild chimpanzee study in the world continues in Gombe, Tanzania! JGI funds research to continue studying our closest genetic relatives, and together we’re learning so much.

๐Ÿ“ Also in Gombe, Tanzania, is a long-term study of olive baboons, led by Dr. Anthony Collins. This study has been going since 1972!

๐ŸŒฟ There are wild populations of chimpanzees that live around JGI’s Tchimpounga Sanctuary in the Republic of the Congo. JGI-RoC staff monitor their behavior to know when it’s safe to play outside with baby chimpanzees at the center.

๐Ÿ“ฑ Teams of researchers also leverage the newest technology to monitor and study the larger biodiversity of these ecosystems, especially in Gombe, Tanzania.

Jane Goodall Instagram – ๐ŸŒฟ Happy International Day of Biodiversity! ๐ŸŒ As Jane says, “Every little species of animal and plant … has a role to play.”

Today, we celebrate the incredible diversity of life on Earth, and there’s no better place to marvel at this beauty than Gombe National Park, the place where Jane made her groundbreaking chimpanzee observations. ๐Ÿฆ‹ Home to our beloved chimpanzee friends and a myriad of other species, Gombe showcases the wonders of nature like no other.

But let’s remember, biodiversity isn’t just about admiring wildlife; it’s about recognizing the interconnectedness of all living things and the vital role each species plays in sustaining our planet. From the tiniest insects to the majestic trees, every organism contributes to the delicate balance of ecosystems.

As stewards of this planet, it’s our duty to protect and preserve biodiversity everywhere. By conserving places like Gombe, we’re not just safeguarding habitats; we’re ensuring a future where both humans and wildlife can thrive together. ๐ŸŒŸ

Let’s commit to honoring and cherishing the biodiversity that enriches our world!
