As Jane says: "Every day we interact with other people, animals, and the environment. And each day, we have opportunities to help another being on the Earth we all share." With that in mind, consider becoming a guardian for a native species 🌱πŸͺ²πŸ€ A native species is one that is indigenous to a given region or ecosystem, and occurs naturally in the area. Once you know about native species in your area, you can better protect them. Here's some inspiration: 🐝 Make a bee bath to help hydrate your local pollinators (don't forget to refresh the water daily!) 🌲 Work with a local nursery to plant a native tree. Jane always recommends kissing the tree before you plant it! 🏑 Create a backyard wildlife refuge, like a pinecone bird feeder or a toad abode Our youth-action program, @rootsandshoots, has tons of resources β€” LINK IN BIO or check out rootsandshoots.org! πŸ“Έ: Merlin van Lawick

Jane Goodall Instagram – 🌳🌲 Happy Arbor Day! 🌲🌳

If you’re looking for a way to celebrate, take Jane’s advice: β€œAny chance you have to be out in the forest, please try. Just see what it will do for you.”

Jane often talks about the important role that forests play in fighting global climate change, as well as the many resources and services they provide for us on a daily basis. Restoring and growing native trees all over the world is an important part of what the Jane Goodall Institute does:

🌱 Many @rootsandshoots groups globally have started projects to learn about and plant native trees in their communities.

🌿 Village Forest Monitors in Tanzania are trained by JGI staff to check on the health of local forest reserves.

🌳 Key partnerships with impactful groups like the@arbordayfoundation helped us contribute to #JanesGreenHope campaign by planting native trees all over the world. In these photos, you can see planting efforts in Washington, West Virginia, the Amazon, Madagascar, and Oregon.
