Today marks the 2 year anniversary of when I decided to take my life back from alcoholism and addiction. The first 5 pictures are me of me living that lifestyle. Followed by pictures of my beautiful life now in sobriety. The majority of my adult life revolved around drugs and alcohol. Obsessing over when and where my next drink was coming from. When it would be acceptable to get black out drunk. Which usually ended with some kind of injury or regret. 2 years ago, some very special people that had come into my life made me realize I couldn’t continue to live this way. I didn’t need to just change my ways for them, but also if I wanted to live. I was headed down a path full of regret destruction and eventually death. I decided 2 years ago to make a change by making better choices 24 hrs at a time. I have now accomplished more in 2 years than I did in my entire drinking career. For example. I can now say that at 40, I have a credit score, I got a driver’s license back, I have a loving family where I get to be present in my step kids life. And I have been accepted back into college. Things I never thought were possible or cared about because of my addiction. Where pain, obsession, and uncertainty used to consume everything around me. I now have love, pride, and perseverance. I am very grateful for this journey, my sobriety, to be surrounded by my loving, supportive family and friends.
