It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle of pursuing any goal or dream that we often forget to have fun, at least I have. If there was one piece of advice I’d give myself when I first started this journey, it would be to remember to have fun. As I heard a wise woman once quote, “the journey is the destination”.
This is my little fur baby Lillie. She’s 18 years old. I adopted her when she was 6 months. She sat in my lap as I drove this day. We were headed to the animal hospital. It’s funny how pets become family. I’m sad that she hasn’t been doing very well. She’s developing more medical alignment as she’s gotten older but she’s a little fighter and I love that about her. If you’ve ever owned a pet, you know it gets hard when you have to start asking those tough questions. I’ve had doctors suggest putting her to sleep and my rebuttal is always, “we don’t give up on people that easily.” “We at least try!” I wish animals could talk and tell us how they feel. I wonder if she’s in pain. I find myself looking in her eyes, asking if she’s ready to go. Or am I being selfish. But we’ve been fighting through it all. We’ve both been holding on. I’ve been keeping her comfy at home, knowing that her time could be near. As I type this, I know I need to focus on being thankful for our time together. Ultimately, I do and I will be sure to remember that. If you guys can send my little miss Lillie some love and all the best, it would truly warm my heart and lift my spirit. Thank you so much! Reaching any goal or dream comes with its own set of obstacles but you can do it. It’s possible. The power of the spirit that dwells within you made it so. I loved everything Whoopi Goldberg did… she was my biggest inspiration. However, as I got older, I was afraid of showing that side of me and became a much more serious person and the funnier/fun side took a back seat. I now see that comedy presenting itself in other ways. I’m always visualizing something crazy and this award is from the first project I ever co-wrote and directed. I can’t take all the credit though, my talented writing partner on this, @kennyyoung333, will have you rolling on the floor, laughing out loud.
