SAVE FOR LATER MY PILATES ANGELS 🪽🩵 Today’s Mat Series: Single Straight Leg Variations To modify or warm up, keep head down. When you’re ready, lift shoulder blades and head off the ground and look towards your belly. Try to keep your torso still while you do all the moves 🙂 TRADITIONAL: * Lay on your back and lengthen both legs to the ceiling * Scoop your abs (think of an ice cream scooper) and roll your shoulder blades away from your ears * Grab one leg just above the ankle while the opposite leg lowers to the floor * Pull the leg towards your shoulders 2x then switch, inhaling for 2 and exhaling for 2 * 8-10x on each leg BALL TAPS W/ SQUEEZE * Same set up as above but this time place a Pilates ball in-between your palms * Instead of pulling your leg, this time tap the ball to shin/ankle and squeeze it 2x before switching * Keep shoulders away from your ears, especially when squeezing * 8-10x on each leg BALL UNDER PASS * Same set up as above * This time passing the ball under each leg before switching * Keep the scoop in your belly * 8-10x on each leg NOTES * Try to keep legs straight but can slightly bend them if needed, especially if you’re feeling tight * If you want to really challenge yourself, do each set back to back without resting If you loved that heat, pair it with the ‘Mat Series: Single Leg Stretch’ reel for a mini midway workout! I love all different kinds of movement so I’m excited to start sharing more of it whether it’s dancing, pilates or anything else that feels goood 🤸🏻♀️ Starting a little Mat Series here for those who like to do their movement at home & appreciate the foundations of mat pilates (kinda like ballet for technical dance, etc) but also want ways to spice it up 🌶️ Today’s Mat Series: Single Leg Stretch Variations TRADITIONAL: • lift head and shoulders off the mat (stay down if you’re modifying) •outside hand goes to outside ankle, inside hand goes on shin • draw belly button down into your spine like someone is trying to poke you and you’re like “helll no” • bring one knee in to your chest as you lengthen the other • exhale to switch • 5x on each leg WEIGHTS PRESSED DOWN: • can start with head and shoulders down for a set then lift for another • actively press the weights into the floor, keeping the chest open • 5x each leg WEIGHTS LIFTED: • same exact form, just reach the dumbbells towards the front of your mat about hip height or higher • 5x each leg If you loved that burn, feel free to repeat all 3 sets 1-2 more times ✨ ALSO for the record…that’s lint on my clothes…not sparkles bahaha pass the lint roller . . #matpilatesclass #singlelegstretch #pilatescommunity #pilatesgirl
