It’s NDAM, and I’ve been thinking about all the T1Ds I’ve been so lucky to meet and that inspire me, and one of them is Laura. Laura founded her own nonprofit @yourejustmytype that hosts mental health events for people living with type 1 diabetes. She puts together meet-ups for all different age groups: toddlers, kids, teens and adults. She’s creating an amazing support system for the T1D community, so we can all connect online and IRL to lift each other up.
I wish I would have known someone like Laura when I was first diagnosed. I only started meeting other T1Ds in real life recently, and let me tell you, it’s one of the BEST feelings — it’s like you have an instant best friend.
