I know I am a little late to the game here but, for those of you that have been asking where I got my dress for the LF for @crateandbarrel party (thank you very much…) I MADE IT. (In theory…)
About ten minutes before it was time to leave for the event I was still laying in bed dreaming of throwing on sweatpants. I even put my jeans on for a second… but then figured that would be disappointing for my daughter who was excited to see what I was going to wear to the party!
So I rallied myself and decided to pull out my most comfortable pieces in the hope that I could figure something out. I used a silk long skirt and then this lovely shortish dress that looks nothing like what it turned out to be — I tied it up around my waist and kind of tucked some fabric into my unmentionables to create a new neckline for my own little gown look. Necessity is the mother of invention.
And yes, they randomly were the same olive green. (The only color I seem to buy.) and voila! The most comfortable fancy look I’ve ever worn. (Though it kept changing form all night… ala that scene in Clueless when Brittany Murphy doesn’t know what to do with her shirt.) BUT I loved it. And truly it just goes to show you, anything can be anything!
And most importantly my little Ever girl LOVED it!

As many of you know when we moved back to our little town right outside of Pittsburgh I told anyone who wants to open (or update!) a business around here that I would love to help because I want to do my part to see our town flourish and grow. My friend, Anne who owns @fox.andthefleur, was the very first one to take me up on the offer for her flower shop!
Together we transformed this 450 sq/ft shop located right on the main street of our little town. The flowers needed to be the star of the show so we made sure to keep things simple everywhere else. We freshened everything up with a coat of white paint, added an oversized sink for cutting stems, installed some shelves and peg rail that we painted the same color as the walls, swapped out lights, brought in some vintage furniture pieces I had hanging around and filled the place from floor to ceiling (literally) with flowers!

Three profiles available in two finishes: You can pick between the natural and muted White Oak fronts or (and!) the simple and classic Paper White solid fronts. Both of these fronts come in three profile options: Shaker, Frame, and Slab.
I was on a mission to create a classic, easy, fail-proof and hopefully timeless collection of cabinetry as a sort of foundational “blank slate” for YOU (and me) to create our own versions of our dream kitchen, bathrooms, closets, etc.

At home with my Mellow Chairs — part two! Our home’s sun room has become the room where my family and I like to cozy up together the most. We read books, watch shows, color and just get really cozy, cozy, cozy here! So, when I got my hands on some samples of the Mellow Chair that I’d been designing with @crateandbarrel (in the hope to create the coziest chair imaginable), I knew they had to go in this room! I paired the Mellow Chair with my Ever Sofa and even swapped out the coffee table that was originally here for two of the Mellow Ottomans lined up next to one another — now we can quite literally kick our feet up and relax here. This room was always a space that we naturally gravitated to and now we just might never leave!

Well yesterday, thanks to the Women’s Committee of the @carnegiemuseumofart I realized I was right. @indiahicksstyle IS magic. A fast friend with a truly British sense of humor (my favorite kind!!) and casual undone beachy/British style by the droves. (Also my favorite kind.)
I told her she’s invited back to Pittsburgh whenever. But I then quickly corrected myself and said, “Ya know what, skip that— I’ll come to you.”

Most of you are no stranger to my love of @jleishmanart’s work! And my love of her incredible collages that I have been so lucky to carry with me from home to home. Well, here she is in the flesh! The one and only @jleishmanart!
I remember the first time I saw Jackie Leishman’s art at a show in Los Angeles. I can honestly say I stopped in my tracks and beelined over to it. I didn’t buy a piece just then, I’m not sure I could afford it at the time. But I got her card and told her I’d be back. I’m sure she thought, yea right… Well now years later, I’ve had the honor of purchasing many of her pieces for my own homes and clients’ projects. And to top it all off she has now joined me as the featured artist in my 5th collection with @crateandbarrel! I can’t say I can fully describe why I love her work so much. Maybe it’s because even through the “chaos” it still feels completely serene.
Everything Jackie creates, I want on my walls – including these framed prints of her original work that are now available through @crateandbarrel. I so love the idea of being able to bring great art and great artists into our homes through Crate. I am so thankful they are working directly with true artists in this way. So cool.
