Ledisi Instagram – This is the best birthday gift ! Wow God. I am in tears. Most of my peers who’ve been in this business as long as I have had a great beginning to have this moment early on in their careers. That was not so for me. I have been wanting to headline this theater since my first performance in Chicago in the early 2000’s. We walked around admiring this beautiful city for the first time and I saw this theater and I said outloud pointing at the marquee , “one day I’m gonna have my name up there.” This musical love affair with Chicago took me years to build organically. My first music video “Alright” was filmed here. 24 years later it’s finally happening. 75 people showed up at my first gig in Chicago. Today my name is on the marquee at the @chicagotheatre 🙏🏾Whew!
