I took my daughter with me, and there were maybe 10 other people in the theater with us. It is the only movie during which I took screen shots, that is how much of a fan I am! Markéta Irglová na opavském Slunovratu. Moc děkujeme @marketa_irglova za natočení krásné videopozvánky. Markéta nehraje v Česku často. Ne, že by nechtěla, naopak, české publikum má moc ráda. Ale osud ji zavál na Island a posledních deset let se věnovala především výchově svých tří dětí. Že na ni svět nezapomněl potvrdila v posledních dvou letech vyprodaná turné v prestižních sálech ve Spojených státech, které absolvovala spolu s Glenem Hansardem ve znovuobnovené sestavě Swell Season. Recenzenti nešetřili chválou a posluchači nadšením. Na obzoru se tak rýsuje po patnácti letech nové společné album nezapomenutelné dvojice z filmu Once, který je označován za “muzikál celé jedné generace”. Pro ty později narozené – z něj pochází i slavná oscarová píseň Falling Slowly. Markéta ale hudebně nezahálela ani ve studiu. Tři sólová autorská alba, řada singlů, filmová a divadelní hudba, to vše směřující k výslednému nezaměnitelnému hudebnímu výrazu. Markétiny písně dokáží vybudit představivost, jsou naplněny emocemi, ale zároveň i vnitřním klidem. Její kompozice jsou silně imaginativní a cinematické, i proto je opakovaně oslovována s žádostmi o spolupráci filmovými tvůrci v Česku i zahraničí. Výrazná obrazotvornost písniček Markéty Irglové souvisí s bohatým koncertním zvukem, v němž kromě piana dominují bohaté smyčce a který posluchače unáší na svých vlnách a nechává jej se do nich ponořit. K němu Markéta postupně dospěla od jednoduchého folkového základu, který má své kořeny možná někde u Joni Mitchell a vůbec písničkářů z přelomu 60. a 70. let. Zformoval se především díky spolupráci s řadou hudebníků z oblasti klasické hudby, v posledních letech především s Jihočeskou filharmonií a jejím smyčcovým kvintetem. S ním se zřídka, ale pravidelně potkává na českých pódiích.
