College students are under attack. @missmayim and @noatishby have a message for students: You are not alone. You have support on campus. And you have the support of the rest of the world. We need our allies to speak up and continue to stand up against this hatred on campus. Share this video to show your support. @israelcc @standwithus @hillelintl @jewishoncampus and many more are here to help. #NeverAgain Produced by: @YoavDavis for #DavisMedia
My heart is big. My heart can hold love for Israel, the homeland of the Jewish people. My heart feels the immense pain and horror the Israeli people are experiencing and I share that pain. My heart feels fear because of the antisemitism moving through this world with no end in sight. My heart feels rage for the lack of unanimous global support for a swift return of the hostages taken by Hamas, the terrorist organization terrorizing Israelis and Palestinians alike. My heart can hold all of this. Can yours? #ReleaseTheHostages #BringThemHomeNow
I recorded this last night and have decided to post it a little bit before the West Coast starts preparing for Shabbat. Wishing you all a safe weekend.
Facts of the week with @noatishby and @missmayim. True or false? Jews are a huge percent of the world population? FALSE. Jews are 0.2% of the world population, compared with 30% which are Christian, 25% Muslims, and 15% Hindus. Jews are waging a unilateral war against the Palestinian people? FALSE. Not only was Israel attacked on October 7th by an army of 3,000 terrorists, Israel continued to be attacked from the south, the north, and from the sea. So Iran-backed Houthis from Yemen are throwing rockets at Israel from the South, and Iran-backed Hezbollah from Lebanon are launching rockets at Israel from the north. So not only did Israel not launch the war, start the war, and it’s not unilateral. Israel’s constantly under attack since October 7th. Israel should agree to a ceasefire immediately? FALSE. No country in the world would be asked to stop protecting itself under attack from all of its borders. The Jews should just go back to their homeland and all of this would be over? FALSE. As Golda Meir said, our secret weapon is that we have nowhere to go. There are 49 countries in the world with Muslim majority and 22 Arab countries in the region. Israel is the only Jewish state in the world. The Jews are the indigenous people of the land of Israel. The Jews have originated from Judea, and that’s never going to change.
“I am not afraid to speak up. I am speaking up because I am afraid.” – Columbia Professor Shai Davidai Watch this please. It is not violent, it is not gory. Here’s the cliff notes: Rape is never okay as an “act of resistance.” Kidnapping babies is never okay as an “act of resistance.” Holding hostages – including over a dozen Americans – underground is not an “act of resistance.” It’s an act of terrorism. Please watch this video and share widely.
Thank you Melanie Hutsell for this – I did not intend to disparage you or SNL and I really appreciate your thoughtfulness around this! It made for an interesting essay (which I was asked to write many months ago on the topic of antisemitism) and with everything going on in the world, I’m virtually hugging you and appreciate you very much! “Volunteers in Seattle are also part of the global campaign raising awareness about Israelis and Americans kidnapped by Hamas terrorists. Look at the installation they created Sunday in front of Lumen Field. Organizers say more of these are on the way across the region.” – youtube.com/choeshow #Seattle #LetTheWorldKnow
Part 2… One of the greatest challenges for the Jewish people right now is how to frame what’s going on in Israel without delving into politics, historical injustices, and a comparison or competition of oppression or suffering. Rachel Goldberg, whose son Hersh is currently being held captive by Hamas along with approximately 240 others, has been one of the most outstanding advocates to BRING THEM HOME. Today she speaks with us with the hope that maybe if people understood what she is going through as a human being and as a mother, maybe it could shift the conversation. Rachel’s primary focus – despite the horror she is living – is simply to bring her son and hundreds of children, parents, grandparents, spouses, siblings, and, yes, infants – home. @bring.hersh.home Stay tuned for part three of my conversation with Rachel tomorrow.

I support student protests and as a liberal and a child of civil rights activists, I believe in protest and free speech – even speech I disagree with. I don’t support violence against protestors – even those I disagree with. The police being brought into colleges is of course upsetting – I was raised on the images of Kent State. Police brutality is never acceptable. And also – Universities have rules. You can’t scream at any group – except Jews – to “go back to where you came from” and you can’t try to dismantle the only Jewish state in the world that is fighting for survival and the return of its hostages without Jews on your campus feeling unsafe. There are so many ways to help Palestinians and also to not be antisemitic. This article explains how the protests took a sharp turn we won’t easily come back from. Spoiler alert: I’m afraid (and I’m not the only one ) that this wave of protestors will be handing our next election to someone who will treat them less kindly than they’re being treated now and that worries me.
