Nandita Das Instagram – It was an interesting experience to be at the World Health Organization headquarters and have the opportunity to interact with so many people who engage globally with so many aspects of health.
I confess, I have had a bit of a disdain for big organisations and always rooted for the grassroots ones. But both are needed and nobody’s work is easy. To get almost 200 countries to even agree on a mandate must be a challenge.
I was on the jury of their Health for All Film Festival and announced the winners.
The evening was special. Listening to the Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the PM of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, former PM of UK, Gordon Brown and others made me realise what a mammoth task it is to deal with health issues and emergencies around the world. It was interspersed with Farah El Dibany’s powerful and soulful singing. Was happy to snuggle up with the incredible young dancers from Africa. What a lovely evening!!
