Nathalie Kelley Instagram – With no end in sight to the ongoing actors and writers strike, my monthly column for @lofficielibiza is now up and still extremely relevant. It’s my personal take on the reasons behind this strike – and in it I share some of my personal history as an actress. Normally I try to block out those really tough years where I persevered through soul crushing auditions before “making it” as an actress – but writing the article was a good reminder of why we are doing this. Those of us who have the privilege of having agents, managers and lawyers now must to fight for the rights of those who don’t. Whose jobs and work are set to be cannibalized by AI if we don’t set clear limits around its use. The majority of actors struggle to make enough to qualify for health insurance – that was me for a few years. And yes, being an actor comes with a huge risk and job stability is not one of its hallmarks – but our creative birthright and dignity as artists and workers is on the line. And that is why this a fight worth enduring. In the same way we all benefited from the gains won in the last actors strike (before I was even born) the actors of the future will thank us for our perseverance. 🙏🏽 link to article in bio | Posted on 31/Aug/2023 17:21:36
