Según un documental de @dw_esppañol, la quinta parte de la población mundial vive en regiones en las que no hay agua. Miles de millones de personas no acceden a agua limpia en el planeta.
💥🌍El cambio climático, resultado principalmente del uso de combustibles fósiles, está aumentando la temperatura y el agua escasea. En contraste, la agroindustria, multinacionales productoras de bebidas, ropa #fastfashion, y las industrias extractivistas gastan miles de millones de litros de agua cada día. Para un gramo de oro, más de mil litros de agua son usados. Una tonelada de litio requiere dos millones de litros. Y 🥤¿sabías que según el Fondo Mundial para la Naturaleza, cada litro de Coca-Cola y su contenido de azúcar demanda entre 175 y 200 litros de agua?🥤
🚰 Mientras tanto, poblaciones campesinas y negras enfrentan dificultades para regar sus campos debido a la escasez y la contaminación. Muchos pueblos y comunidades son desplazados por el avance de las industrias.

A little message of support for all the brave souls in the world who love PEACE and dare to dream of a day when PEACE prevails on this Earth -thank you for speaking up against injustice and for your passionate stance against war and violence. Protesting for peace is noble, holy work but please be hyper vigilant against those with violent rhetoric and motives who want to infiltrate your movement. Your fight against injustice must include injustice against ALL people. Do not align yourself with movements or regimes that spew hatred and oppress their own people. Keep your eyes on the prize of collective liberation and hold true to the principles of non-violence. These are heavy and dark times that we will look back on with horror and grief, but the PEACEMAKERS among us need to cling firmly to compassion, radical empathy, deep listening and LOVE more than ever. Don’t let this dark cloud that has descended over humanity darken your hearts. Hold firmly to what is pure and good. No one is free until we are ALL free and that includes freedom from the poison of hatred and extremism. Blessed are PEACEMAKERS ☮️ 🕊️

Last year one of dearest friends and spiritual mentors ‘Rabbi Rachel’ introduced me to the work of @womenwagepeace – a non-partisan peace movement of Jewish, Arab, Druze and Bedouin women asking for a diplomatic negotiation, with full representation of women, to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. One of its founders Vivian Silver, was presumed to be one of the hostages taken by Hamas on October 7th until a few days ago it was confirmed that she had been killed that day. The cruel and bitter irony of Hamas killing a woman who dedicated her life to fighting for Gazans and all Palestinians to live in prosperity and peace alongside Israeli citizens like herself, is not lost on me. Every day I prayed for her release and would anxiously check news reports of hostages to see if she had been freed, and so the latest news of her death has left those in the interfaith peace community shattered 💔 this eulogy by Bedouin peace activist Ghadir Hani is the most poignant, beautiful and heart wrenching tribute to a great soul. 🕊️ Yael Deckelbaum’s song in the 2nd slide “The Prayer of the Mothers” is a tribute to all those who dare to think outside the binary of ‘us versus them’ and dream of a new way 🕊️My vow of Ahimsa (non-violence) has meant that I have been careful not to fall into a stance being either Pro-Palestine / Pro-Israel because I fear supporting one side might send a violent message to the other side that I don’t also love and support their peoples desire for peace and safety. Hoje é o Dia Nacional do #Cerrado no Brasil! 🇧🇷 Esse precioso bioma não recebe a mesma atenção que seu vizinho mais famoso, a Amazônia, recebe, e com pouca proteção legal, ele está desaparecendo duas vezes mais rápido do que a Amazônia.
🌳 O Cerrado é uma floresta “de cabeça para baixo”, armazenando bilhões de toneladas de carbono em seus solos e em seu imenso sistema radicular. Ele abriga 5% das espécies de plantas e animais do mundo e muitas comunidades indígenas e locais.
Metade da superfície terrestre do Cerrado foi perdida, tomada pela indústria da carne para criar gado e cultivar soja como ração animal para manter os supermercados globais abastecidos com carne barata.
Não podemos permitir que um ecossistema tão valioso seja destruído: 🌾🐄 Precisamos da savana do Cerrado tanto quanto da floresta amazônica para nos ajudar a mitigar os efeitos de um mundo que aquece rapidamente. O Cerrado precisa de maior proteção antes que seja tarde demais.

The tourism industry is notorious for destroying ecosystems and further impoverishing indigenous communities (look at Tulum) but there are some companies looking to change that. Bravo @aulaartesana for this wonderful initiative that takes tourists to communities like Patacancha for an immersive authentic experience while providing economic support for these communities. At 3500 meters above sea level, Juan and his family are stewarding one of Peru’s most vital ecosystems. As our glaciers melt these high altitude grasslands will be increasingly important to capture and store water. Projects like these allow Juan to shepherd his alpacas and steward the water like his ancestors have done before him. His only economic alternative would be work as a low paid porter on the Inca trail or working in the mines. I loved my visit to Patacancha so much I went back with my whole family. It was the best thing I did while in Peru! The Inca trail and Machu Picchu are overrun with tourists… do this instead ! 🌿 link in bio #ecotourism

It’s my personal take on the reasons behind this strike – and in it I share some of my personal history as an actress. Normally I try to block out those really tough years where I persevered through soul crushing auditions before “making it” as an actress – but writing the article was a good reminder of why we are doing this. Those of us who have the privilege of having agents, managers and lawyers now must to fight for the rights of those who don’t. Whose jobs and work are set to be cannibalized by AI if we don’t set clear limits around its use. The majority of actors struggle to make enough to qualify for health insurance – that was me for a few years. And yes, being an actor comes with a huge risk and job stability is not one of its hallmarks – but our creative birthright and dignity as artists and workers is on the line. And that is why this a fight worth enduring. In the same way we all benefited from the gains won in the last actors strike (before I was even born) the actors of the future will thank us for our perseverance. 🙏🏽 link to article in bio

🇧🇷(Português abaixo) My dream was to come and live here some time next year but the universe had other plans. At some point I’ll tell you about the proposed hydroelectric dam, the mining, the soy plantations, the agribusiness barons and corrupt politicians… that’s why I came here – to tell the story of the Amazon and the numerous threats to her existence that she is facing at the moment. But for now I just want to remind myself, and all of you – of what we are fighting for. Clean water, primary rainforest, unbelievable biodiversity. Maybe you will never visit this beautiful place and so it’s easy to vote for leaders and laws that want to destroy it. But I hope to help communicate the love and wonder and awe that this place inspires to those that call her home. That story is even more important. Because you protect what you love. And if we are not doing this for love that what are we doing? ❤️ 🇧🇷 Meu sonho era vir morar aqui no ano que vem, mas o universo tinha outros planos.
