Nathalie Kelley Instagram – Just this last month the National Geographic Society (@insidenatgeo) made the move to include FUNGI in its definition of WILDLIFE, placing them alongside plants and animals.
This isn’t just wordplay; it literally means that mycology has been declared an area of interest, unlocking crucial funding for fungal research and projects looking to investigate and protect fungi from all over the world.
Alongside this significant step triggered by our partners at the @fungifoundation, the National Geographic Society’s Impact Story Lab has launched the short film ‘Flora Fauna Funga’ (available on their YouTube channel and via the link in my bio) The short documentary was filmed during an expedition to Tierra del Fuego in Chile, where @giulifungi @fungifoundation, @merlin.sheldrake, and @spununderground spent 10 days collecting samples of fungi and soil to research how the funga of the southernmost tip of the American continent live and adapt.
Foundress of the @fungifoundation @giulifungi is doing amazing things for KINdom of Fungi, finding new species, fighting to make sure mycologically inclusive language is included in conservation frameworks. You will be hearing more about this work in next month but in meantime please check out the longer version of this film via the link in my bio. 🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄 | Posted on 29/Apr/2024 06:55:33
