Aloha Lāhui…thereʻs a fantastic Kūkulu exhibit to honor the pillars of Mauna Kea and those from the Nānākuli communities NOW at the Nānākuli Public Library. YOU donʻt even have to talk to anyone OR check out a book. Just go in the door, turn to the right and there it is, honoring Westside O`ahu Kia`i standing for the Mauna and other issues. Kylie, the librarian worked very hard to create an exhibit for everyone to see. Please stop in and check it out. Itʻs a free exhibit and well worth your time! Please go by, take your kids, introduce them to all of the aloha ʻāina in the photos and let others know too.

On this special day, we are so grateful to have made it to the final ballot in the Graphics Category. Please allow us to share the story of one of two of the inside cover photographs from KŪKULU. This beautiful photo was taken by a mother of her daughter who had asked to be driven to the ahu at Puʻuhuluhulu that day to offer the water to Poliʻahu that she had collected from the rains falling on Waikoloa. This photograph inspired the first KŪKULU Traveling Art Exhibition in 2018. No Kahailimauna, he inoa. It is a pleasure and honor to be included in this NA HOKU HANOHANO ʻOHANA. MAHALO.
Mahalo nui to Shawn Pimental and Elmer Sonny Lim. We couldn’t have done it without them and the mauna. Repost from @shawnpimental • Mahalo to Aunty @puacase for having us be a part of such an amazing project bringing awareness to MAUNA KEA and forever holding sacred spaces for our people. “KŪKULU” archives an important time in our history thru ceremony. For all of you who stood tall like HER to protect our PIKO, this is for YOU. We will continue to fight and will answer the KĀHEA. EŌ KŪ KIAʻI MAUNA 🔺🔺🔺
In between two film screenings in Seattle this week and teaching at schools, Kapulei and members of the film team were able to visit the Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience which is featuring several of her photos of elders on Mauna Kea. As our mission is to be a constant presence for the mauna, Standing Above the Clouds and the upcoming Ho’omana exhibit at Mānoa are two ways of assuring that we are fulfilling our heartfelt commitment to Mauna Kea. The mauna is everywhere and we keep rising like a mighty wave.
