Today on Day 2 of the ANU Gaza Solidarity Encampment we organised a speakout and solidarity photo in support of Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah. Dr Abdel-Fattah is the subject of a vicious smear campaign by the Murdoch press, attempting to deplatform her and sack her from her academic position at Macquarie University. We stand with Dr Abdel-Fattah in the face of the Murdoch press’ racist smear campaign. It is disgusting to imply that the Palestinian solidarity movement is a threat to children when the Israeli state has slaughtered 15,000 children in Gaza over the last six months. In the face of Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians and the Albanese government’s shameful complicity, it is justified to call for Intifada against Israel. We call for the Intifada to be globalised against all the institutions and governments which profit from the obliteration of Gaza. And our encampment is itself, an intifada against the Australian National University, demanding that management cuts ties with Israeli institutions and weapons manufacturers. So we defend the right of Palestinians to resist, and to call for intifada. And as students we will campaign in defense of any staff members who are targeted because they are against genocide, against apartheid, and against the occupation.
