I’ve had the intense and immense gift of living two lives. One life as a homeless, drug addict living like a cockroach in the streets. My second life as a transformed, blessed woman who gets to be a wife, friend, director and a useful, productive human. Every year, this day Oct 12 comes when I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and humility. Love and forgiveness are the most powerful assets we all possess that we can freely give to ourselves and to each other. Thank you to the universe, and all the people who have offered me love that has strengthened and healed me one day at a time. With 582,000 homeless people in our country, I never take this gift of a second chance for granted. Honestly, I’m living proof that miracles are real. At one time, a shower every day was impossible.
