This suit from last night’s episode of CHICAGO MED belonged to my mother. She loved clothes, she loved to look good! As we closed out her closet I took this suit back to Chicago with me and asked our costume designer #SusanKaufman would it work for my character. Susan loved the idea…she loved the suit. Our tailor #JulieYrjanson turned the flair skirt to pencil…I think Ma would’ve liked that. It is now a part of the character’s wardrobe. Thank you #SusanKaufman and #JulieYrjanson for the opportunity to honor my mother. Ann Merkerson 12-08-1926/09-05-2022 AND IN AN EPISODE DIRECTED BY #BrianTee. She and Brian had a special friendship and she would’ve gotten a kick outta watching this episode!

This photo was taken May 28, 2016. I was visiting Arlington Cemetery and the resting place of Justin Davis. I’d never been to the cemetery but was in DC for the #NationalMemorialDayConcert #PBS and was given a tour. For the concert I spoke the words of Paula Davis, Justins’ mother. Paulas’ only child was killed in Afghanistan. I met this group of military men #The LongIslandLeathernecks. They were there to honor one of their own; a son who had died in Afghanistan. I will always remember them and the ease in which they told stories of their experience of war. I am in DC today to speak the words of Patricia Magee who lost her son Anthony in Afghanistan. We must honor and celebrate the families, our active duty military and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. #PBS #MemorialDayConcert May 28,2023 Join us tonight 8/7central
