@watkinsfamilyhour’s new album Vol. II is OUT NOW! This record is a celebration of 20 years of Watkins Family Hour. 20 years ago, Flanagan at @largolosangeles invited @seancwatkins and me to do a monthly show where we could play old covers, try out new songs and invite guests to join us. This monthly residency quickly became something very special – a way to dig into the incredibly diverse and inspiring creative scene in LA. This record commemorates two decades of the profoundly special community we found at @largolosangeles. We are joined by Fiona Apple, @jacksonbrowne, @ilovelucius, @gaby_moreno, @madicunningham, Jon Brion, @williewatsongs and @benmonttench on Vol. II. The special guests represent some of whom we met in the early days and some more recently. A huge thank you to @tylerchester and David Boucher who produced this record alongside us. 2002. I was in a @nickelcreek cover band in college, the first band I ever sang in. Because I had a naturally high falsetto, I would usually sing Sara’s parts. I learned how to sing (and a lot about songwriting) because of this band. I was TRIPPING out when we first spoke on the phone about Better Part Of Me. I think we were both out doing family-related errands, and it occurred to me that music, in all its sick and beautiful ways, is really an extended family. It took me 20 years, but I finally wrote a song that she would sing with me. Thank you Sara.
