Sepideh Moafi Instagram – Golden Globes 2023 — a highlight of my year. This dress was an inspiring collaboration between me, @amirtaghicollection & #HausOfMilad. I approached these beautiful artists & expressed that I wanted to use #GoldenGlobes to continue to highlight brave Iranians as they continue to sacrifice & risk their lives for freedom. We spoke in depth about every detail—the slit revealing a woman’s leg symbolizing the march for freedom, ripping the curtain open demanding freedom of choice, expression, bodily autonomy; each & every sparkling sequin symbolizing the 1000s of brave souls viciously killed by the Islamic Republic; the poppy flower which symbolizes fallen martyrs blooming into a new Iran; the red signifying the blood of all those killed; the calligraphy of the names of those murdered by the regime with the center petals emblazoned with #WomanLifeFreedom. This dress was a true labor of love, of passion, of a pining for a homeland I’ve never had the chance to know & a way that I could show my awe & stand in solidarity with my siblings fighting for a #FreeIran. As we approach the one year anniversary of the killing of Jina #MahsaAmini at the hands of the IR, I continue to stand in solidarity with my hamvatan in their 44 year fight to break the shackles from the medieval clerical despotic Islamic Republic, & the timeless struggle for true freedom & democracy, free from colonial & authoritarian rule in Iran. #زن_زندگى_آزادى
