Golden Globes 2023 — a highlight of my year. This dress was an inspiring collaboration between me, @amirtaghicollection & #HausOfMilad. I approached these beautiful artists & expressed that I wanted to use #GoldenGlobes to continue to highlight brave Iranians as they continue to sacrifice & risk their lives for freedom.
We spoke in depth about every detail—the slit revealing a woman’s leg symbolizing the march for freedom, ripping the curtain open demanding freedom of choice, expression, bodily autonomy; each & every sparkling sequin symbolizing the 1000s of brave souls viciously killed by the Islamic Republic; the poppy flower which symbolizes fallen martyrs blooming into a new Iran; the red signifying the blood of all those killed; the calligraphy of the names of those murdered by the regime with the center petals emblazoned with #WomanLifeFreedom. This dress was a true labor of love, of passion, of a pining for a homeland I’ve never had the chance to know & a way that I could show my awe & stand in solidarity with my siblings fighting for a #FreeIran.
As we approach the one year anniversary of the killing of Jina #MahsaAmini at the hands of the IR, I continue to stand in solidarity with my hamvatan in their 44 year fight to break the shackles from the medieval clerical despotic Islamic Republic, & the timeless struggle for true freedom & democracy, free from colonial & authoritarian rule in Iran.

Over the moon for my beloved friend @chefnasrinlove who just opened her first restaurant #NasrinsKitchen in NY! 🥹 Her cooking is out of this world & she just happens to be one of the kindest, loveliest people on earth. 😍
Nasrin was forced to flee Iran w/her three beautiful kids in 2014. They stayed in Turkey for two years before coming to NY. After a rough period living in a shelter, she joined the phenomenal team of refugee chefs from all over the world at @eatoffbeat (where we met in 2018–see second photo!) She later told me she was excited to meet me because she didn’t speak much English at the time & didn’t know many Farsi speakers so when we met, she burst into tears (as did I!) & we held each other as we talked & talked & talked. Since then, we’ve collaborated on a number of events. I’m looking forward to many, many more Nasrin jan. Just the beginning…🥹😭😍

A week late but a big, juicy thank you for all of the birthday love via calls, messages, hugs, tags. My heart is flooded with gratitude (no pun intended— #iykyk ) And thank you to my beloved friends who dropped everything last minute to come have a dance party with me on a Monday night. This has been one of the most surprising, challenging, humbling years of my life for many reasons, but it has only deepened my commitment to love with abandon, to listen and truly hear, to give without expectation, to see beyond what is tangible, and to live in a way so that when the day comes, I’m proud to die.

What does life look like in the world’s largest Syrian refugee camp?
Actor, singer and IRC Ambassador @sepidehmoafi paid a visit to Za’atari camp in Jordan, where the IRC supports hundreds of people with vital healthcare and protection services for women and girls.
“As someone who was born in a refugee camp, this experience struck a chord with me,” said Sepideh. “The generosity and intellect of every person I met moved me beyond measure.”
In 2023, IRC in Jordan served more than 16,000 patients with essential healthcare including refugees in the Za’atari and Azraq camps as well as refugees and vulnerable Jordanians in urban areas.

Every child deserves a safe space to play and learn, especially children fleeing conflict. 💛
When IRC ambassador @SepidehMoafi paid a visit to our Smile Caravan in Jordan, it wasn’t just the children who left smiling!
The Smile Caravan is part of Ahlan Simsim—a first-of-its-kind initiative from the IRC and @SesameWorkshop providing transformational early childhood development and playful learning that is now part of daily life for millions of children in the Middle East.
A mobile vehicle designed to bring playful learning and early childhood support to families in hard-to-reach areas, through activities including puppet shows, Ahlan Simsim video screenings, storytelling, drawing and coloring.
“I couldn’t believe the level of enthusiasm and focus I witnessed in every single child. The Ahlan Simsim initiative is a lifeline for the tens of millions of children who have had to flee their homes and inspires hope that despite their unimaginable past and challenging present, these children have a safe, nurturing space to learn, grow and build their futures.”
