Wonder, curiosity, beauty…I looked at you (and my birthday cake!) in awe. You were my fort, my life, my angel…and you are still by my side. My Maman Estelle.
To all the mothers out there (biological or not) please take care of your needs while you give wholeheartedly. Please look after your mind and heart as you cup ours into your soul!
Happy Mother’s Day! ❤️

“Sophie, is your book like a love letter to the world?” my friend and ally @gabormatemd asked me as he generously helped me launch #CloserTogether in Vancouver.
He got me teary from the get go as I realized that I want my whole life to be a cry of love for this world through all its pain, beauty, darkness and light. But none of it is about me; it’s about each and every one of us being allowed deeper inside ourselves, guided, supported, courageous and vulnerable. Emotional leadership is learning how to fall back in love with ourselves with time and patience. To take that seat and be able to gauge and regulate our mind, thoughts and emotions.
I want to thank the sold out crowd and everyone at the @vancouverwritersfest for coming out, hosting us, and starting this work themselves. It’s the hardest work we will ever do but the healing and strength that comes out of it is necessary for us to evolve in peace within ourselves and in the world. No piece of cake. But we can do it.

The circle of sisterhood is strong!
Last week I had the opportunity to visit Boston to speak with a packed room of women who together could change the world, brought together by the brilliant @linda_pizzuti. Over lunch we shared our stories and struggles – and most importantly: HOPE.
I am so thankful to have been in community with you all, and for you taking time out of your busy lives to learn about how we can better ourselves to affect those around us.
The lunch ended with a special treat I mentioned in my book: “Dad’s” oatmeal cookies – a favorite Canadian snack from growing up with my dad!
Thank you, Linda, for all your hospitality – and to all the women and allies I got to meet – I look forward to sharing space with you again soon!
See you on the path,
Sophie.

I’m not really a “morning person” but today at a YWCA fundraising breakfast in Kitchener with Sophie Gregoire Trudeau I was wide awake and absorbing every word of our inspiring conversation about her new book Closer Together. Along with a team of mental health experts, this book delivers food for the brain and the body. Sophie is a force – and a source – of strength, grace and honesty. She also likes a good laugh. It was particularly special to have our chat in my hometown with my own fabulous sisters in the house! #mentalhealthawareness (some photos by Mathew McCarthy, Waterloo Region Record)
The book tour is off to an epic start and has definitely brought us #CLOSERTOGETHER! We’ve laughed, we’ve cried and we’ve gotten into some good mischief 😉 I wanted to express my sincere thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to pull this together.
Thank you to each and every one of you that has come out to see me from Montreal to Vancouver, Seattle to Boston, New York, Ottawa, Toronto, Washington, DC, Paris and everywhere in between! We’re just getting started 🙂

It was an honor to visit the @microsoft campus in Seattle and engage in a thoughtful discussion on mental health with fellow Canadian Erin Chapple and other allies.
If we are emotionally secure enough to recognize the inherent goodness and potential in ourselves, we can help each other rise above life’s challenges.
Let’s be aware of our unconscious patterns without guilt or shame so we can better govern ourselves and our emotions. Ours brains and future are ours to shape!
