I am overflowing with pride for this little girl from Jackson Ward, whose art was showcased all over the set of Pix 11 News. Creating visions of how I view this beautiful black curvy body to life with my own hands, and seeing those love letters to myself and other women who look like me showcased life-size on TV, feels like a confirmation that what felt like far away dreams may become a reality if I continue to believe. If I continue to create I’ll look up one day and see my little piece of art has become bigger than me. It’s not just empowering; I feel absolutely unstoppable and excited to continue planting seeds and see what time and faith brings.
