Virginia Trioli Instagram – Mother’s Day made in a most unexpected way: this painting popped up in my feed, one of the impressionist Edouard Manet’s final paintings on view in NY now, and it’s almost impossible to express how deeply thrilling and exhilarating it is to see this flair, ease, delight and beauty in painting: look at the brush strokes!! Zoom in and look! As my friend the painter @stiegpersson says, the brush stokes are almost contemptuous: Manet makes a series of very tricky choices look so easy. Amazing. People go to stare at the Mona Lisa – I could stare at this luminous work all day.
This is the most exceptional Mothers Day bouquet I could ever receive, and I’ll take it thank you.
