Viva Bianca Instagram – This IWD, rather than echoing corporate feminist sentiments about female empowerment and western world women’s achievements — which I’ve certainly been no stranger to in the past, I stand in solidarity with the women and children of Palestine.
Women’s liberation is not liberation when we ignore or remain silent about the suffering of women in the shadows.
12,300 children killed. 8,400 women killed. (And we know the numbers are likely to be higher than reported.) Too many mothers unable to feed their children – 80% of them opting to skip meals in order to give to their young (according to UN Women). No access to aid, hospitals, medical clinics.. Women having cesarean sections without anesthesia.
Too many families torn apart and left grieving. World leaders have failed them.
Today is not a day to celebrate, but a day to demand better.
