My unhealthy relationship with alcohol was evident from the beginning, when I was just 14 years old. I ignored the warning signs.
As I got older, I became a master manipulator and found countless ways to justify my drunken behavior. I ignored a car accident, a DUI, and waking up in the hospital.
Success in my career brought about a serious entitlement complex that only fueled my drinking even further. I ignored the pleas from my loving, concerned wife.
When the pandemic tore down the facade I had constructed around me, I turned to drinking 24/7. I could not ignore what I was doing to my kids.
I entered rehab in May of 2021 and it not only changed my life, but the lives of the people around me as well. I am grateful for every day that I am living, sober and present.
