Hazen Audel Instagram – There’s one dear friend in my life that lives here in this corner of the USA that shows me her life that depends on her horses. Her life is with them from dawn till dusk. She has no car, so when I would visit her we would saddle up or go bareback and head into town. Using trails, side streets, and eventually sidewalks. We would make it to the grocery store to get things for dinner and tie the horses to the bike rack. Or if there was some good live music we would tie our horses to the railing at the bar.
The town is well accustomed to her movements and protects her lifestyle and horses.
I had seen first hand my friend’s dedication and knowledge. As much as I would love to have horses as my life, I am reluctant and wise enough to know my life for now cannot include these animals that make me feel so good.
Although I had romanticized for most of my life- being able to ride a horse to work everyday. Even had a plan for this when I was a high-school teacher. Maybe in a different life or maybe my life in another corner of a country in the world. I remain open to what brings me fulfillment.
They are our beasts of burden that have been raised, captured, bred domesticated so we could live along side of them. They improved our lives in every place on the planet we could take them. They won wars for us and heal.
