Keahu Kahuanui Instagram – “Looks like you need this…” 😜 I don’t ride 60 miles out of the city JUST for the workout but many people don’t know how many effing cute spots there are to stop along the way for things like apple cider donuts, autumn leaves, hiking, brunch, sea side tacos and getting in great views of the Hudson you can’t get in the city.
You first go up the Hudson River Parkway which has been developing for years. Trek up to 178th st and cross the George Washington Bridge to Palisades Park which is ~15 miles of rolling hills, parks, waterfalls, marinas and hiking paths.
The 9W market is shortly after the ranger station for Burgers 🍔 and breakfast, bikes.
Then you have the town of Nyack with a ton of restaurants and a seaside park that even had a Halloween parade last weekend.
Bear Mountain is even further up with a big lake, hiking and camping, and a lookout you can see NYC from.
If you cross Bear Mountain bridge at around 50 miles north of the city, Cold Spring is another 10 miles with a Main Street that looks like it belongs in Hocus Pocus or a Hallmark movie. But if that’s too far, Peekskill is a bit closer, right on the water with a farmers market and festivals on the weekend. Both towns with train stations back to Grand Central Station.
I never have a dull ride but I’m sure there are some spots I’m missing. Explored the area? Know another good spot. Let me know! Bear Mountain State Park | Posted on 07/Nov/2023 01:02:00
