Pride in Istanbul used to be one of the largest in Europe as well as the role until 2014. Every year since, the community has risked their safety, freedom and more to come together in the streets in solidarity. Nonviolently. With Pride. This year 373 documented people maybe more were arrested. They really deserve more support and international visibility to put pressure on the current government to immediately halt these oppressive actions.
Why was this a fashion video? Well, whenever we speak about these community obstacles our content is often pigeoned into a smaller section of the algorithm. By viewing this conversation through the lens of attire we break that algorithm and possibly outside the normal sphere of viewers.
