Over 50 DMs in a day saying that if I went on the ground to serve Gazan Palestinians that they’d unalive me. Along with other horrible physical acts. So, I assembled a team of local lgbtq people and allies on the ground in Egypt and went far and wide to deliver direct cash physical aid to Gazan Palestinians in need as requested. Did I die? No. Did any of our team mates die? No. Were there LGBTQ Gazan Palestinians who were living at an adult age? Yes. Not only did I survive but I was welcomed into homes, given food and drinks despite tight resources. Allowed to use the restroom of my choice. Allowed to work directly with the Palestinian Embassy as the sole cash aid provider to families on the ground and our team members were provided body guards and bullet proof escorts to more dangerous locations. The journalist syndicate also opened their doors taking us from home to home- and every single time I was open off the bat that I am lgbtq . Not something I typically do, but for this I did. I was accepted in rooms of all men. I was accepted into spaces of all women. I was held and allowed to hold others. And so were my teammates. Hundreds of families personally visited in 3 weeks. Is the situation as horrific as You have seen on tv? It’s worse. We visited hospitals filled with air strike survivors. Studio apartment with 15 refugees stack in a single space having lost their life back home. We walked through rubble and ruins and saw the devastating impacts of war. This propaganda that LGBTQ people must not call for humanitarian aid or rights for Palestinian people simply because of conservative values is unethical and wrong. Every human- EVERY HUMAN deserves the right to food shelter water physical safety and freedom of movement. And I mean EVERY. So don’t get it twisted. #lovewins #thetruth #myth #storytime #lgbtq Ps Our cash aid mission is still continuing. Want to support and get Your name on an envelope? Donate to the link in my bio. Our efforts are Palestinian run @roaakashef and ally managed @arielleabroad PPS probably ended my career by posting this according to some other folx in my life so- that’s that. It’s been a good ride.
Now’s the time to have these discussions so because when the world opens back up- we have a more perfect opportunity than ever to reset. To do things differently. To reassess. There’s no going back after going inward. Do You think there’s a sport we can reassess the division of uniform for? If not why? #reels #reelsinstagram #comparison #genderequality #genderfluid #genderqueer #lgbtq #sports #debat
Don’t let propaganda lie to you. I lived. Our team lived. Local LGBTQ people are living. It’s true that LGBTQ Gazan Palestinians experience oppression. Their stories of their experiences are valid. The Gazan Palestinian community also isn’t a monolithic one, and many many people support lgbtq identities from within. Additionally, people are trying to use the conservative values the government of Gaza to shut down any calls for humanitarian aid to all Gazan Palestinians. To justify harm to Palestinian people as a whole. This egregious lie can not succeed. The Gazan Palestinian people are by and large a loving, giving, kind people. They are nonviolent and welcoming. Some may have a road to travel for lgbtq liberation to exist- but also… they need a road to travel at all. We must not discard our humanity just because humanity has discarded us. See Link in Bio. Just got back from Ukraine, and finally am posting after much reflection. There’s a lot to talk about. Bombs, bullets, border guards and some of the most incredible human hearts. From this platform, incredible people like Yourself joined together to successfully guide and evacuate thousands of people to safety or across a neighboring border. Especially LGBTQ, BIPOC, disabled, and elderly folx. We have now officially become an NGO called SAFEBOW! However we got to a point where gay men, transwomen, non-binary beings and disabled folx with an M on their passport were unable to leave the country. Despite losing everything and/or being unfit morally or mentally for service in a war zone. They just sat in squalid conditions, sleeping on floors or in the dirt. Unable to enlist but unable to get a white slip to exit due to bias or overwhelmed systems. This sexist restriction (which often leads to trans erasure) is a mounting humanitarian crisis that people aren’t willing to talk about. One which has already had deadly consequences. This is why I went to advocate on the ground, and while we had a lot of success… the problem is bigger than our team can solve alone. We need Your help. Serving or remaining in a war zone should be a choice. Not a requirement. Period. No matter who You are, You should have the right to flee freely. Please call upon Zelensky to revisit this awful frankly antiquated enforcement- and to instead consider proposing a more compassionate approach. And if You want to evacuate , contact us. No matter who You are, we will do everything we can to assist You to to safety. SafeBow is for everyone. If You want to volunteer, we have room for anyone willing. 1 hour or 1 month- any amount of time is enough. We have multiple roles which are accessible and can be done from your homes. Sign up at Safebow.org . Or to donate, click the link in my bio , DM or see my stories. #ukraine #lgbtq
What’s Your Pride outfit? And if You can’t wear one openly then what do You dream of one day wearing without fear? Pride in Istanbul used to be one of the largest in Europe as well as the role until 2014. Every year since, the community has risked their safety, freedom and more to come together in the streets in solidarity. Nonviolently. With Pride. This year 373 documented people maybe more were arrested. They really deserve more support and international visibility to put pressure on the current government to immediately halt these oppressive actions. Why was this a fashion video? Well, whenever we speak about these community obstacles our content is often pigeoned into a smaller section of the algorithm. By viewing this conversation through the lens of attire we break that algorithm and possibly outside the normal sphere of viewers. This content was reviewed and approved by local Istanbul community members The involvement in this Pride was at invitation not insertion. Please make sure when joining any marginalized movement to check with the desires of local leaders and organizers first before assuming their needs for contributions. #pride2022 #lgbtqia #fashion #reels #whatdoyouthink
I waited a year & a half to post these- and I almost just deleted them. Here’s why ⬇️ (*note following story contains some distressing themes- but it has a happy ending. Reader discretion advised. *) These images were taken over a year and a half ago when I had hit my bottom of bottoms spiritually and physically. I was drinking a lot, dealing with the turmoil of a tumultuous personal life, feeling inadequate to be enough to stop the gasping mountain of suffering people shared into my inbox that I desperately wanted to heal, I was broke, felt my career was over, and felt that the future held no art, I had cancer, wasn’t in the best physical health or mental health, and felt that I was just not able to be the being everyone and myself needed to the extent that was requested. I found myself crashing in a space in NYC during this pivotal time with @mrddayland . He was tapping back into his photography and one night we just had a super safe space and after not being in front of the camera for about a while, I found it surprisingly ok to just sit and shoot with this human. These are the images taken. Looking at them at the time I felt they had something special in them- but I also felt really ashamed because I could see the depression. The lines from stress and self neglect etched into my skin. The sunken gaze beneath the chainmail. The downturned lips usually a grin. A clear capture of the state I was in. 3 months later I would go on the journey I’ve shared here with yall that I decided to ethically end my life. It had come to that moment. That culmination. It’s only by a literal miracle of a natural phenomenon happening that I chose to live. A caterpillar attached itself to my shirt & turned into a moth. One of the most incredible things to ever happen to me. After a year and a half of VERY hard hard work I’ve found purpose greater than I could’ve imagined. Hope. Dips of defeatable depression. Joy. Rage. And LIFE again!! Choosing to live is sometimes our greatest form of revolution. I post these now not out of shame but pride for Pride that they remind me that I lived. I’ll leave there to always remind me. #pridemonth #lgbtq🌈 #storytime #genderqueer

Found out I’m cancer free today! It’s been a heck of a year. One of fighting harder for life on every aspect than I’ve ever had to fight before- and across more spectrums of that statement than ever before. Ive spent the past year realigning internally, externally and communally. Giving this planet and myself everything I’ve got to give with every ounce of existence possible. And somehow, today, is the day where I finally feel the clear crisp start to the next chapter of who I am. And how I want to show up for You, this world and myself. Despite all the obstacles and the uncertainties of this era- I find myself daring… hoping… BELIEVING that this life has a lot of beauty ahead. That these will be one of the most meaningful and impactful years. That all the lessons, the truths, the trusts and the hard knocks have culminated in being more equipped for whatever the universe brings. I haven’t – and I wont – give up on pursuing purpose, art, possibility and a bit better of a planet for You too. Can’t wait for adventure to cross our paths. Thanks for sticking with me. For giving me grace to be the being I am. To grow and pivot. To try again and again better and better. I am so grateful for You and this community who have gifted me a safe space and who have reminded me to not give up. You’re a big reason why I’m alive today. ❤️ Here we go to the next chapter together! Up up up and up we go! #lgbtqia #positivenews #goodvibes #letsgo #grateful
‼️URGENT CALL TO ACTION‼️ 🆘Two children, Rafif (13) and Rafik (15), are severely injured after bombing of their home. Their mother and 10 other family members were killed. 🆘They are immobile and stranded in #AlShifa Hospital. Their extensive and life threatening wounds require constant care – but, instead, their guardians and medical staff were forcibly removed from the hospital. Like all the other patients at Al Shifa, including children, they are completely alone, in pain and have not eaten in 4 days. This is utterly horrifying: NO CHILD should be in this situation. They require urgent medical attention and URGENT EVACUATION. 🔉We are calling on the UK Government, WHO and UN OCHA to act immediately and save Rafif and Rafik, as well as the hundreds of other patients. 🚨REPOST, STORY & TAG @ukgovofficial @ukhomeoffice @un_ocha @who @drtedros #EvacuateRR

You are being tested on where You stand morally right now. If there is a time to act- even just once in your life- this is that time. Do You believe in treating people humanely and with dignity? Or not? Call Your political reps. Netanyahu has determined that they will ignore the advice of all nations and will seek to “evacute” then assault Rafah. Our team has worked tirelessly since the start to provide aid to Gazan Palestinians. Both in Gaza and refugees throughout Egypt. We have seen them lose lives, limbs and loved ones. Their homes and their communities. Whole family reduced to air strike debris. And we know that the condition in Rafah (where most have found shelter) is appalling. From experience and knowledge I will tell You that many will not survive a hasty evacuation. Especially on foot. Disabled, elderly, newborn babies and more will die. Many innocent people will be shot and killed if they move wrong. Many innocent men will be stripped, humiliated and often beaten just for being men. Journalists will have their equipment taken as has happened. Furbabies will be murdered or abandoned. And remaining buildings will be demolished. A ceasefire has been demanded. And should be demanded. We must also though- right now- scream and demand top of the lungs for at very least halt on this Rafah plan. And the implementation of third party that isn’t emotionally blinded to oversee humanitarian provisions and care. Otherwise the disaster that awaits will be one of the greatest atrocities of our time at a scale humanity rarely witnesses. And it’s completely preventable. I am begging You- no matter where You stand on this issue- to have on iota of compassion for the Palestinian people in Gaza. I and my entire team can attest that they are good people, many of them children and many of them very seriously misrepresented. They are kind, generous, welcoming, hopeful good people. They deserve better than this. #lgbtq #rafah #dosomething #yesyoucan

We are part of @the.safebow.collective and together with an amazing team – and with your help – we evacuate vulnerable people out of Gaza, Palestine. This is the evacuation of a family of 7 that took place last week. It was filmed by @abed_zagout who is also the photographer of the title picture. We were all very touched when we got this video, so we wanted to share it with you so you can see that these evacuations work, thanks to your donations. If you want to support our work and Gazan Palestinians, please donate to the link in our bios. Thank you so much. 🍉
Have You ever tried something You heard about online and we’re actually pleasantly surprised? Some things just work. These may work for You too. If You are a person who gets overstimulated, distracted, or exhausted by the sound in many spaces that life brings us to, @loopearplugs are a possible remedy. Personally for me, I find that I avoid crowded places if I want to be able to focus, connect, or enjoy life. However, I miss out on a lot as a result. Concerts, big friend gatherings, and even the ability to write in a cozy but chatty cafe. These little devices filter out noise in different ways that can really help manage the overstimulation. No tricks. No scams. Simple. They can’t cure social anxiety entirely, but they sure can relieve a huge contributing factor to it. Opening up possibilities for some of us. Plus, they look cool. Like jewelry! And are more sustainable than single use ear foam. It’s worth a shot just to be able to experience life in a way You really can be present for. If interested in trying them out head to my link in bio of course. What is a place You get overstimulated by? #loopsearplugs #loops #lovewins #themoreyouknow #lgbtq
